Who we are

Our team embraces a compassionate and inclusive approach to support neuro-diverse students, students with ongoing sensory, mobility, medical, and mental health conditions, as well as primary caregivers of individuals. Our philosophy is grounded in fostering independence, creating opportunities, and promoting academic success while upholding RMIT 91tv's Core values and the Framework.

Who we support

  • Neurodevelopmental conditions: Autism or ADHD.
  • Physical & sensory conditions: Physical/Mobility challenges, vision (low/no vision), hearing (low/no hearing)
  • Learning & neurological conditions: Specific learning disorders (such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia), speech & language disorders, neurological conditions (such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, Parkinsons', traumatic brain injury)
  • Health conditions: mental health disorders (such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, obsessive-compulsive disorder), long-term medical conditions (such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders, cancer, arthritis)

What we do

If you request our support, we will meet with you to discuss your individual needs and create an equitable learning plan (ELP) with you. We share your plan with your teachers and provide ongoing support as needed. Your ELP may include:

  • Adjustments to study conditions (exam time, extensions, alternative assessments)
  • Course materials in other formats
  • Student aid service
  • Assistive technology access and support

The ELA service is free, private and confidential. Appointments are available face to face and online and are usually around 45 minutes.

To arrange support, you will need to:

  1. be enrolled in a course at RMIT
  2. email the ELA team to complete our registration form
  3. be able to provide relevant documentation about your condition from a qualified medical professional. If you don’t have documents, ELA advisors can assist you with this process
