Leadership, strategy, and governance are vital foundations in building a sustainable smart city. However, no city can truly achieve sustainability without the active engagement of smart citizens and a thriving digital society. As Vietnam embarks on its transformative journey, one key question emerges: How do these two elements—smart citizens and a digital society—work together to drive sustainable urban development, especially in a megacity like Ho Chi Minh City?
On November 22nd, RMIT’s Smart and Sustainable Cities Hub and The Business School, in collaboration with the Digital Transformation Centre of Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Development Studies, will co-host the Smart and Sustainable Cities Forum 2024. With the central theme, Smart Citizens and Digital Society – Leading Vietnam’s Sustainable Future, the forum will examine the crucial role of smart citizenship and digital society in enhancing the governance of megacities and fostering a sustainable future.
The forum's outcomes aim to contribute to the advancement of Vietnam’s national programs for digital transformation and smart, sustainable cities, as outlined in Decisions 749/QD-TTg and 950/QD-TTg. This event will unite key stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and international experts to discuss how digitally skilled and empowered citizens can help shape a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient digital society for Vietnam’s future.
Featuring keynote presentations, the launch of a white paper, and collaborative discussions, this forum aspires to accelerate Vietnam’s digital transformation while paving the way for smarter cities and more engaged citizens.
